save energy around the house from Michigan

"Water Heating:
- Repair leaky faucets, which can waste gallons of water each day.
- Lower your water heater thermostat to about 115 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Take short showers instead of long showers or baths. You could save 5 - 15 gallons of hot water a day.
- Insulate hot water pipes
- Install a solar water heater."

- Installing storm windows can reduce the heat loss through the window by 25 - 50%.
- Keep your curtains shut in cold weather
- With ...help, apply caulking and weather stripping around doors and windows.
- Make draft stoppers for the bottom of exterior doors."

- Set the thermostat as high as comfortably possible
- Don't place air conditioner thermostats next to heat producing objects (e.g. lamps, TVs).
