California "Green Roads" Plan
California is the land of highways and cars.
Roads are everywhere and part of having road means road repairs and that means waste.
So, The State California has taken a stand and has a "Green Roads" program to reduce waste and recycle where possible ... resulting in less initial cost and less disposal cost. Some of the highlights:
- "Rubberized Asphalt Concrete - (RAC) is a road material made with recycled tires."
- "Recycled Aggregate - comes from crushing old concrete and asphalt for base in road projects."
- "Tire Derived Aggregate - (TDA) is made up of shredded tires."

"Our State has long been an innovative leader in the environmental arena ... protecting natural resources and diverting unnecessary waste from landfills. We have also recognized significant cost savings ... by using recycled-content and environmentally friendly materials."
