Enterprise Rent-A-Car to Plant 50 Million Trees

Enterprise Rent-A-Car celebrates its 50th Anniversary in February 2007.

As part of their 50th Anniversary celebration they have partnered with the National Arbor Day Foundation to plant 50 Million trees in our National Forests.

"Enterprise has formed a partnership with the Foundation to plant 50 million trees over the next 50 years – a gift, in total, of more than 50 million dollars."

"In an outstanding example of a public-private partnership, The National Arbor Day Foundation will work with the U.S. Forest Service to plant these trees – one million of them each year – in National Forests located in the United States, Canada, and Europe to restore areas damaged by fires, storms, and disease, as well as to help expand and preserve habitats for endangered species."

What Does Planting Trees do for the Environment?  "The 1 million trees planted this year by Enterprise Rent-A-Car, when they reach maturity, will absorb 15,000 tons of CO2 and produce 10,000 tons of oxygen per year – enough to meet the needs of 45,000 people."

Ikea Plants Trees

PLYMOUTH MEETING, PA, June 21, 2006 – “Plant a Tree. Clean the Air. Cool the Globe.” That’s the idea behind IKEA’s and American Forests’ national initiative to plant hundreds of thousands of trees nationwide. Starting June 21, 2006, IKEA stores will be asking customers to donate $1 to plant one tree. IKEA will also match donations for the first 100,000 trees planted."

Paperless Invoice Earth Award: AT&T ...




AT&T recognized for contributions to the earth through paperless invoice program.  ...

 ...   "The National Arbor Day Foundation will present AT&T Inc. with the Foundation's 2006 Promise to the Earth Award in April in recognition of an ongoing AT&T campaign encouraging residential and small-business customers to receive electronic statements and opt out of receiving paper bills through its AT&T eBill service.  Through March 31, 2006, AT&T has pledged a $1 contribution to The National Arbor Day Foundation for each new AT&T eBill activation and cancellation of AT&T paper bill by a residential or small-business customer, with donations earmarked to support the Foundation's tree-planting and education initiatives across the country. Customers in the traditional 13-state AT&T local territory are eligible.  Since the program's introduction in July 2005, monthly enrollments in AT&T eBill have increased by 54 percent. Annually, more than 36,000 trees are saved through the use of AT&T online services."   ...
